I am Nirmala, very happy to be a member of Desiquilters. We began this block from the past july and having a wonderful time with it.We have very very talented members in it where the exhibits are awesome....
I am the queen bee of November and being a  Chennai memeber,We are having monsoon season....Some ten years back we were at Nandanam near Adyar river and during the monsoon ,the river wall broke and we had to cross our street by boat..... had excellent time...
So I chose the theme Sail Boat.I have referred the pattern from
I just completed one block and here is the picture....
Please use any four solids only as printed is not that attractive....
The size is around 12'' to 12.5''
Love to see your blocks soon!!!!!!!

The theme given was Strip quilt of any size
I chose to do
The pieces taken were 2.5 inches -Four dark and four light shade
Cut long strip of nearly 10"in each fabric.
Arrange one light and one dark four together to form a strip.Stitch it.
Arrange another four in the same manner nad stitch it....
Press the seams.
Keep one strip in such a way that dark is to the extreme left.
Add the other on top of this such that the wrong side faces us and light is on the extreme corner.
Cut the strips in to 5" length and diagonally.Stitch the diagonals together.
Arrange it such that one side broad on the base and the other narrow at the base.We get a square.
This is one block....We can make many and make a large quilt.
But I made just one and took some black and green fabrics for the border and .
Finally quilted it by putting the batting and a fabric for the base.

This entry goes to Desi quilters July challenge...What I tried before for july challenge did not satisfy all the rules...So tried this berry basket...Since the theme was quilt with monochromatic colours that too only with two solids ...
Fabrics used
Dotted red-9pieces
Red solid-14pieces
Another red printed-5pieces
Red sripped-One triangle piece
Cloth for backing-quarter meter.
Long strips of striped for the border-three inches width and measure the length after completing the square..
First cut a square of 4inches on a thick paper

Keep the square on the fabric and keep ready all the cut fabrics

First Take a Solid attach a dotted to it,followed by a solid and  half  triangle ofdotted
Second row start with dotted and a solid and half triangle of Dotted.
Now one solid and half dotted and a half dotted for the next row.
First attach all these rows.

Measure this triangle then cut the striped one of same size
Make a square by joining both.
Now make a strip of full printed first followed by HST  ofsolid with a print, continue adding like this four pieces and end it with HST  solid and a dotted.
Make four HST solid with printed for the top
Finally on the right side row, Join a solid with dotted, solid dotted, solid and HST of solid and dotted.
Join both sides,top and bottom....

Top of the quilt is ready.
For stuffing I used sponge and measure the size of the square ,Cut a piece for backing.
Keep the sponge in the middle and finally the backing cloth, pin it first and sew the Sides with the strips of Stripped cloth...
Just to make the solids look attractive ,draw a star with 3D white colour..

Now cut triangles-4pieces another printPartC
Now take the squares front side facing each other ,Stitch on the sides of the middle line so that we get half square of each colour.Keep the printed on the plain piece and stitch once more on the sides of the middle line. Then we get the centre piece of four sections.-PArt A
Now join part  B-Each one print and then join in the square.
